Back to Joby's resume

Joby was born in New York City and of Dominican parents.  Her family then moved her to California where she began her dance career at the age of 19 with Modern, Jazz, Ballet and Hip-Hop.  During this time, she spent three years in an Orange County Theater Dance Company “On Common Ground”.  She began her Salsa dancing in 1993. In 1994 she co-founded the first Salsa dance company in California, Salsa Brava.  Which became one of the top Salsa dance companies in the world.  Now as Joby ‘Brava’ Productions she offers electrifying choreography, hot but easy dance instruction, Salsa career training & consulting and 8 instructional DVDs. She has 2 dance companies (Amateur to Professional) and is the face of the up and coming workout ‘Havana Nights” seen in Target and Walmart near you.

Back when Joby started, everyone thought Salsa was something you ate with chips. With Joby’s determination to spread the passion of Latin dancing, she started to expose a style of Salsa no one had seen before anywhere in the world.  It began in Puerto Rico’s 1st Annual Salsa Congress in 97’ and from high demand it quickly grew to multitude of visits to over 40 different countries through her 19 years of experience.  She has trained some of the best Salsa dancers in the world and worked with artist in videos, movies, television, film, and stage shows with many Latin & American known artist.  A few such as Rita Moreno, Jimmy Smits, Tito Puente, Celia Cruz , Jennifer Lopez, Chayanne, Blair Underwood, Sinbad, Vanessa Williams, Tito Nieves, Hill Harper, Quincy Jones, Donnie & Marie, Rosanne Bar, Thalia, Marco Antonio Solis and The Four Tops.
